Family Time

Ladies - time for some sharing!!!

Having some dedicated and intentional family time is so important - cell phones off, iPads off, computers off - true family time.  If we are being honest...that can be hard for us over here. At our house, we are so busy during the week that we recently have tried to set aside Friday nights for family pj party and movie night!!  Yesterday, we watched The Lorax with the boys...cute movie. It is a fun and easy/cheap way to spend time together. Usually, we are all in our pjs as soon as we get home from work/daycare and we are ready for family night to begin. I love how excited our kids are!

What are some of your family time ideas or traditions...small or big?  I would love to get some other ideas...

Also, I started a Facebook page too if you are interested in joining:  Facebook.com/aroadtohere

  1. We have several...

We do "Screen on the green" - We don't have tvs around here (we do own computers/ipads/kindles/etc) but we choose not to have a tv because we know how easy it can be to get "sucked in" SO we bought a projector earlier this year and have movie nights outside on the back of a quilt! It's so fun! Now that it's cold (or when mosquitoes are crazy), we cuddle up and show it on a blank canvas I haven't painted on yet! Super fun!

We also have a jar full of fun ideas (we have one for date nights too!) and there are ideas written on slips of paper - We will choose one and have random fun! (Blog post coming soon with more info!)

My girls are also at the ages that they LOVE being read to and my 5 year old is discovering her love for Little House On The Prairie and Boxcar Children, so we read a LOT together. Sometimes in bed and sometimes all of us cuddled under blankets in lawn chairs by the chiminea (sp?)

We just enjoy being together so much (sounds corny, but it's the truth!). We don't really have a set night we do things - our focus is more on being intentional with our time and activities ONLY because I'd beat myself up every time we couldn't do our weekly activity we'd planned for one reason or another. If that makes sense?
